The wiki guide seems accurate...

http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Survivor_title_guide

Seems the official wiki is correct as well ( http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Survivor )... I think you were reading it wrong.

I'm assuming by "old fashioned way" you mean "playing through the game and NOT running straight to Kilroy to grind out XP." I don't know if there's a guide per se, but a couple of things you can keep in mind:

1. Elite skill capping will net you 5,000 XP (Double on capping weekends!)
2. Most quest in the Kaineng city area give 3,000 XP upon completion, which can add up to over 100,000 XP earned without an aweful lot of risk.
3. Be sure to take advantage of the doppleganger mission in Prophecies for the 50,000 XP there. (Check the wiki on that to make sure you don't do something in the other chapters to lose the chance for that bonus.)
4. If you've got a bad connection, you're playing with fire.
5. If you find yourself in a nasty situation, remember that "Discretion is the better part of valor."
6. Using Z-missions & Bounties also give a bit of XP.
7. If you're going for GWAMM, you can synergize your title hunting a bit. Vanquishing easy areas (anywhere in Istan, say) can net you some nice XP

Kudos to you for doing it old school.
1) Stay away from certain zoning areas (like the one entering Mineral Springs) as lag can often kill you because of the enemies that spawn close to the entrance.
2) Only play with people you trust. (I once lost survivor at lvl 17 because some pug wanted help running to the buried treasures in Istan, and he agroed a bunch of degeners on us when I was checking the map).
3) Use a runner for certain missions where a boss can sometimes get the upper hand (like Varesh). Don't be afraid to bail if it looks like that is happening. But be sure to settle up with the runner.

Forced death at the final cutscene of Vizunah's Square DOES count. Tested some weeks ago on my own skin.. If you want to do that mission, and you are with other people, log off (quit the game) at the cutscene, you still should arrive at the next outpost.

Try to play H/H or with friends..PUGs don't like very much people that log off suddenly in fear of death.

I've done it the old way two times, and i would give you the advice of playing a class that you know very well (i've done it with a monk and a necro, my favourite two classes). Do factions' and nightfall's quests, and start capping elites as soon as you can. Give Protective Spirit to some hero or to yourself.

Good luck

Glad to see guys doing it this way,

agree with above posters, on methods ect

I have did quests in Hard mode in factions gaining more xp as I progress

I would say beware of pugging unless its friends you know

You will be able to do factions /prof complete np when in nightfall you can do up to Rhilon refuge np there .just turn of the pumps to progress easily

then up to Ruins of Morah should be ok also...then eye of north should be ok taking primaries and missions up to Hos

This will bring you over 1 million xp then be selective after that

I did it the manly way too. Rune up 3 heroes that fit you well and farm early Nightfall in hardmode for XP when you run out of easy missions and skill caps. Load up on protective buffs to drag you through lag (Faithful Intervention was a big help for me). When things get too risky, don't map travel, but jump to your guild hall. It doesn't require losing sight of the screen and the lag is a bit lower, so there's a smaller window for monsters to kill you when you can't defend yourself.

I finished it legitway on my rit last week. Three main things I did:

1) All kaineng quests coz they easy and good xp
2) Augury rock first, then abandoned prophecies as very low XP there
3) EotN. Many high exp quests, and by the by very easy missions. Had to be careful with destructions depths boss, but there are easy ways to beat him. I blocked him with the GOLEMS, and then killed him from the top of the stairs with SoS, Bloodsong + Vampirism, but im sure there are other options. Notice the quest dood Tarnished Haven, his quest chain has like 80k xp.
4) Factions & NF storyline. I got masters in both of these, really easy.
5) Skill caps. I went through and got all the primary profession ones and some of the others that could potentially be useful.

However, if you wanna make this a gwamm character then I would cap every skill I passed on the way because eventually you would have had to do this for legendary skill hunter.
